Why are there thousands, perhaps millions of people across the nation, all clamoring to get into auditions for movies? Everybody wants to be a movie star, right? Doesn't every man want to be like Humphry Bogart and every woman want to be like Marylin Monroe? There has got to be some kind of lingering spirit of these great people that gets under our skin when we watch classic movies that leaves us knowing for sure that we want to be in the movies when the film is over, and then put up with sloughing through hours of auditions that don't even result in a callback for movies destined to be anything but classics.
Only the strong survive when you are actually at auditions. That is the one thing that we don't know about the lives of the famous actors we see in the movies. The stress and drama that revolves around auditions and trying to get into the movies - constantly being evaluated, re-evaluated, and told you're not good enough, or almost but just not quite good enough. Auditions for movies can be a completely draining process, mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Survival tips? Don't give up, that's an old stand by. How about stay positive? But has any one tried go completely insane? After all, if you're in an insane game, doesn't it stand to reason that a certain dose of insanity could help you come out on top? Auditions for movies are an insane process. You can get yelled at, you may have to read the same thing fifty times, or one quick time and be told you're done after waiting five hours for your chance. For people wanting to get into the movies, a bit of insanity can help smooth out the ride at auditions.
